This article is based upon a study that the author undertook while studying at the University of Birmingham. It describes the effectiveness of peer tutoring and the advantages of the structured ‘pause, prompt and praise’ reading method in improving reading skill among pupils studying in Key Stage 4 at a school for pupils with moderate learning difficulties.
